Camera and Photo Access

Our App requests access to your device's camera and photo library for the following purposes:

• Fridge/Pantry Scanning: To identify ingredients in your refrigerator or pantry using our AI-powered image recognition technology
• Recipe Photos: To allow you to add photos to recipes you create or share with the community

Images captured for ingredient scanning are processed to identify food items and are not stored on our servers unless you explicitly save them. You can revoke camera access at any time through your device settings.

Health Data (Apple HealthKit)

With your explicit consent, Miso Kitchen can integrate with Apple HealthKit to:

• Write nutritional information from recipes you log (calories, macronutrients, micronutrients)
• Read dietary goals to personalize recipe recommendations

Important: Health data accessed through HealthKit is:

• Never sold to third parties
• Never used for advertising purposes
• Never shared with third parties without your explicit consent
• Stored securely on your device and, where necessary, encrypted in our systems

You can disconnect HealthKit integration at any time through the App settings or your device's Health app settings.

AI Features and Data Processing

Miso AI Chef

Our AI chef feature ("Miso") processes the following data to provide personalized cooking assistance:

• Conversation history with Miso (to maintain context and improve responses)
• Your saved recipes and ingredients
• Dietary preferences and restrictions you've set
• Scanned ingredient information

AI-generated content and recommendations are created using machine learning models. We continuously improve these models, but responses should be verified, especially for allergy and dietary restriction information.

Ingredient Recognition

When you scan your fridge or pantry, images are processed by our AI to identify ingredients. This processing may occur on-device or on our secure servers depending on the complexity of the image. We do not store scanned images unless you explicitly save them to your account.

Open Kitchen Community

When you participate in our Open Kitchen community feature:

• Recipes you share publicly will be visible to other users
• Your display name and profile photo (if set) will be shown with shared content
• Ratings and comments you make are associated with your account
• You can delete your shared content at any time

You have full control over what you share. Recipes remain private by default and are only shared when you explicitly choose to publish them to the community.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Personalize your experience and recipe recommendations
• Process and fulfill your requests
• Send you technical notices and support messages
• Respond to your comments and questions
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the App
