Your kitchen is personal. We designed Miso Kitchen to collect as little data as possible and keep what we do collect secure.
Information We Collect
- Account basics: name, email, and Sign in with Apple identifiers.
- Content: recipes, pantry items, photos, ratings, reports, and comments you create in the app.
- Usage: app interactions and diagnostics used to improve reliability.
- Health data (optional): calories and macros you choose to log to Apple Health stay on your device unless you enable sync.
How We Use Your Data
- Deliver core features like recipe saving, pantry scanning, Open Kitchen, and cloud sync.
- Personalize recommendations using your dietary profile.
- Keep the community safe by reviewing reported content.
- Fix bugs and improve the app.
How We Share Data
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with service providers that help us run Miso Kitchen (for example, Supabase for cloud storage and Apple for authentication). These providers only process data on our behalf.
Community Content
Recipes and comments you publish to Open Kitchen are public to other users. Your community username and avatar are visible; your real name and email are not.
Reports
When you report a recipe, we store the recipe ID, the reason, and your account identifier so our moderation team can investigate and follow up if needed.
Data Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting your account in Settings removes your personal data from our systems. Anonymized analytics may be retained.
Your Rights
You can access, correct, or delete your data from Settings. You can also contact us to request an export or deletion of data that is not directly editable in the app.
Children
Miso Kitchen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Sensitive credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain. No system is perfect — please keep your device passcode and Apple ID secure.
Changes
If we make meaningful changes to this policy we'll tell you in the app. Minor clarifications may be made without notice.
